Candace R. Johnson is a partner in the New Jersey office of Brooks & Berne, PLLC. She focuses her practice in the areas of general liability, insurance defense litigation and insurance coverage/bad faith claims; automobile liability, premises liability, product liability and workers’ compensation defense.
Ms. Johnson also represents clients engaged in the default servicing, banking, mortgage lending and mortgage servicing, construction and development, and title insurance industries in both transactional and litigation matters. In this area, her practice focuses on residential and commercial foreclosures, asset recovery, REO real estate transactions and title insurance, title insurance claims, construction disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, evictions, debt collection, creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, documentation of leases, loans and secured transactions.
Ms. Johnson was previously an associate with a New Jersey law firm representing national credit card companies and financial institutions in civil litigation matters involving retail collections. She has experience with contractual agreements and compliance practices regarding state and federal law regulations such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Truth in Lending Act (TILA). Ms. Johnson has also handled landlord tenant and family law matters from case inception through resolution.
